I just joined. I'm trying to be in all the forums as I get building. I got interested years ago and bought a pile of kits. Then I got busy and they sat. I decided to finally do it in the fall and started studying up. I made it to my first build party in December, bringing a few kits. I thought I'd just watch but got talked into getting going. The guys on the press were pressing out barrels using the penny method. I though you were supposed to dress the barrel pin hole as it started moving but they didn't do that.

Later I started getting tools and working at home. I recently finished an AMD-65 and a Romy . They shoot fine. The 3rd build, a Romy G, turned out to be a problem. I hadn't checked before pressing out the barrel and it turned out the front trunnion right lug was way out of spec and there was no way to chamber a round. I had another barrel and trunnion that was good so today I managed to get the bad barrel/trunnion out of the receiver without messing it up. I pressed both barrels out. As they started to move I spent about 5 seconds dressing the pin hole edges with a tiny cheap Harbor Freight filel. Care to guess which is which?

Here's a high res version if you can't tell:

The worst thing is it is an M72 RPK.

I've learned to take time and maker sure nothing is wrong before doing anything drastic.

Anyways, this is my into.

Welcome aboard! If ya have to have an addiction, this is a great addiction to have. Especially since you already have your kits...

Yes welcome to Gunsnet. I too would say I've never dressed a barrel pin hole. Didn't stop me from making 4 for myself and close to a dozen assists for others on builds. Sometimes you get some drag marks but I can't see how that hurts anything.
