    A build it yourself ?ed but not AK

    This kinda came to me that it would be great to be able to break down my 870 to be able to carry as a more compact unit. Problem is the mag tube, thats where the question comes in, is there/can it be made to thread in and out instead of being pressed in?

    as i always say, anythings possible if you wnat to throw enough time and money into it.

    why not just find a takedown shotgun and use that?

    I guess that is a good answer, im going to admit that I dint know there are take down shotguns

    Now let me search the web for possible new prospects.

    winchester mdl 12
    remington mdl 10
    stevens mdl 520
    stevens mdl 620

    off the top of my head. i have all except for the winchester. i like the 520 for the saftey in the triggerguard.

    btw, decent examples of all but the win sould be able to be found for under $200.

    i paid $80 for my 520, $100 for the 620, $150 for one mdl 10 and $125 for the other.

    Hell yeah they're expensive. A shame they couldn't be priced like the Makarovs used to be. $6 ea.

    As much as I'd like to own one the cost of the mags turns me off.

    I had one, and it is one of the most accurate 9x18 I've owned. Polygonal rifling is a great thing.

    It has a small snappy recoil. It doesn't bother me at all.
    I guess it depends how much she has fired handguns before. I don't think it will affect her that much.
