    Selling a modified antique rifle?

I know an antique doesn't need a FFL but if it's been modified post-1898 does it still count as an antique?

I know technically a C&R loses it's status if it's modified (such as a sporterized mil-surp) but since an antique is not a firearm in the eyes of the BATFEandsometimesY does that status change?

As far as I know if the receiver is 1898 or before it doesn't matter what the mods have been. Finnish mosins get sold quite a bit as antiques even though many have been upgraded in the 1930-40's (or later).

    That's what I'm thinking. I have a 1895 (1942) B barrel M39 in my safe now

I figure if they can use "once an MG always an MG", then "once a non-firearm, always a non-firearm" and it shouldn't matter. Right?

    I'd forgotten about the Finns.
