    Which is better?

    To lean a scoped rifle against something, or to lay it down. As long as the scope is not being knocked around, it should be fine. Note, the barrel is touching the wall and the butt is on the floor. It’s made of steel so it should be fine in both right?

    Shouldn't make a bit of difference any way you put it if all the mounts and or bases are tight.
