This is off subject: But Who makes and imports this gun?

I know this is off the subject of AK's. I posted this in another forum, but didn't think I would get a reply there.
Centerfiresystems sells this gun and was intrested in it. I googled the heck out of it and couldn't find anything about it??

Suomi MP44 9mm Pistol

Can you guys tell me who builds the Suomi MP44 9mm Pistol ?? Is it a Surplus Gun that is Imported into the U.S.? Or is it built by Century Arms of Someone else.
I like the look of the "Pistol". I believe it is a Military Surplus Gun that has the Underfolder Stock Tack Welded to where it can be called a Pistol and thus imported into the U.S. and not have to go by 922 Rules?
I would like to know if it is a Military Surplus Imported Gun Made in Finland?
or
Is it a Reproduction of a Militart Gun built by Century Arms?

You are correct in assuming that the overfolding stock is tack welded into that position most likely to allow importation as a "pistol" even with a what I believe is a carbine length barrel. Don't know much more than that, other than it is one cool device and would be better if BATFE was just BATE!

So much for shall not be infringed!!!!

I love the look of this gun!
I would like to find out more on the history of the gun and if it is a surplus gun or reproduction and who makes and imports them.
Wish I knew someone who had one to see how they like it and how much trouble it would be to get the over folding stock to work again.

It's actually an M/44 which was a Finn copy of the Soviet PPS43. The biggest difference was the PPS was chambered in 7.62x25 and the M/44 was in 9x19 and took M/31 Soumi drum and stick mags.

The ones CFS has were assembled from parts kits by either Century or possibly WiseLite Arms. At least I keep thinking WiseLite was involved at one point but I could be totally wrong on that point. Regardless, WiseLite is no longer in the firearms manufacturing business so if they were involved your only recourse for problems would be CFS or Century.

I can't decide if I want an M/31 or M/44. Since I don't have the funds for either I suppose it doesn't matter.

Either way, I'd have to stock up on 9x19 like nobody's business.

The original barrel was ~10".

I've seen a couple locally and do not remember if the stock was just tack welded in a couple of places or more substantially. The barrel is certainly under 16" which is why they were built with the welded stock.

Gotta have an approved Form 1 first.

THey are more than "Tack welded"

YOu will need a parts kit if/when you take the plunge to make it operation again I have a 43 and When I get around to SBR'n it I will basically have to GUT the stock internals after I cut the welds and reinstall an operation set from a parts kit.

Thanks, I wasn't sure what the barrel length is.

As for the stock, the locking mechanism is where the welds are, so cutting the welds would most likely destroy the parts. You would also then be in violation of the constitutional barrel length law restricting rifles to lengths of 16 inches or more.
