    Survival Ideas?

I guess this is just some ideas at the top of my head of survival ideas.

Keep your brain, know when and when not to fight.
Always have a gun, period. Also a knife, maybe 2.
    Extra ammo at your discretion.
A second firearm/ammo would be nice.
At least be familiar to being able to make your own weapons and tools.
Bows, arrows, spears, knives, zip gun, self made ammo is good.
Always be on the look out for anything useful. Most anything can be.
Never take more than you can carry.
Have more than 1 way to purify water.
Always plan shelter the best you can.
Some situations dont need to be taken advantage of. For unseen reasons.
Know how to make light footprints, stealth is key when traveling.

Thoughts, ideas? Just some basics off of the top of my head.

Nice ideas there. I guess if your alone this would be good. But if you have more than yourself or a small group then this would have to be changed somewhat.

I guess it could work for a small group of people, no more than 3. Everyone would have to be on the same page, and offer different skills to improve the odds. I forgot to add, have more than one way to start a fire.

The number one survival idea IMHO: "do all of your prep and planning before the need for it actually arrives"

Don't forget communications. Our little group has 2way radios with a 10 mile range and 5 channels. We also have crank lights/chargers/radios. I like this stuff because we use this when rock climbing.

Exactly, on the note of having stuff before SHTF goes down, I have a good amount of 5.56 and 200 rounds of 308. But .45 acp, and 9mm is kinda low at the moment. We have water and MRE's as well. I used to have some good 2 way radios but I lost some of my gear when I moved from my parents. They have it some where and could use it if SHTF.

Know how to make snares/traps. Snares are better because they don't damage the pelt.

Know how to make booby traps, the quicker the tripper is silent the better.

Don't activate any of your own traps.

Have a garotte, know how to use it.

Practice unarmed and disarming techniques for quiet and up close run-ins.

Stock up on anti-diarrhea medication, dysentery has killed more people than syph, bullets, explosives, starvation, dehydration, heat, freezing and exposure combined.

Have condoms for keeping small items dry/transporting them, keeping shit out of your muzzle, to put on severed digits and to use as tourniquettes.

Have a supply of maxi-pads for bandages and a pile of t-shirts for same. Have tampons for the lady's use. The pads are too valuable as bandages to be used in their customary role.

If you live in a rural setting cotton can be gathered from the plant for use as bandages.

Teach young children noise discipline, you don't want to draw a crowd.

Know how to use suturing equipment and have it, kids are always breaking glass and stepping in it.

Have a large inventory of hand tools. Use them with excessive care, avoiding injury is a matter of life and death.

Stay out of shady areas of vegetation, you can't afford a reaction to poison ivy. Have prednisone for such occasions.

Remember E. coli is killed by sunlight and vigorous rubbing of the hands if there is nothing else available.

Have bleach for water purification and sterilization.

Be a good neighbor, they may decide to take you with them if they can't make it. They may be useful for anything from decoys to trusted allies.

Know your allergies, your spouse's and your kids'.
