1 August 2011 Last updated at 10:11 ET Help A retired breast-cancer surgeon has achieved his ambition and set a new world record to become the oldest person ever to swim the English Channel.
Roger Allsopp, from Guernsey, who was 70 in April, completed the 21-nautical mile swim in 17 hours and 51 minutes.
