Any knife makers? Question about Micarta handle material?

Whats the thinnest you could mill micarta down to and still maintain some level of strength in the material. Like a case for a phone. I saw a bamboo phone case that made me wonder if that could be done with micarta.

Can't help you as I'm not a knifemaker but did run across this about making your own micarta.

One article I found did say that if you get something like 1/8" micarta and want it thinner you can just sand it down. It's petty tough stuff so even something like a 1/16" should protect a phone, maybe even 1/32".

Thanks, that's neat. From the sound of how you make it I bet it would be pretty strong when thin.
