    WTF, HK snobs..

Okay im just ranting here but has anyone else noticed that at certain websites that specialize in HK stuff there are large amounts of douchebags?

I mean shit, everyone wants to save money but if you ask about getting ANYTHING cheaper or making yourself you get snubbed and smartassed with the "HK makes it, just buy theirs. Anything else is crap!"

Even their websites stores are outrageous, wanting 14-15 bucks for 20rd mags that I can buy all day at CTD for under 3 bucks....

A person doesn't pay thousands of dollars for weapons made out of rolled up sheet steel unless they are snobs.

I love my HK USP9 but mags for it are a bitch to find and theyre high. Because we suck, and they hate us

I own one HK91 and waited until I found one for $1750 in a pawn shop before I bought it. IIRC, we did a group buy of aluminum mags at $1 each on the old board. and I think $1 each for the West German Flec mag pouches.

    I'm a cheap snob!

Just after receiving my tax return early this year, I went into the gun store with my mind set on a reliable & compact .45 (was leaning towards XD45 or Glock 30). The owner showed a recent addition to his shop, a used Compact USP45 stainless with 2 - 8rd mags. The price was $799 + tax out the door for the USP, or $569 + tax for a new in box Glock 30SF. After factoring in cost and availability of mags, mag capacity, and size, I naturally decided on the Glock. I'm not rich enough to be a HK operator commando.

is this news? i thought this was sop for hk fanboys since the 80's.

ive been over there and made a few posts, i didnt receive the "were better than you" treatment, even though my g3 clone was made by century, BUT i have seen that behavior before.

Anyone who pays a lot for anything will try to justify it. I'm sure any Noveske AR15 owner will tell you that your lesser AR is junk.

That being said, the only HK product I would like to own, if the price is right, is an sl7.

it's true with anything, the more it costs the snobbier the people who buy it. Any place devoted to something high dollar will be the same.

One the the best things about gunsnet is the utter lack of snobs, most likely because it was devoted to $300 rifles back in it's glory days. You should go check out the hi-point forums, no snobbery at all.

I've heard the tales of it. I have not seen it myself though, probably because I don't own anythign HK makes. Part of that you suck and we hate you attutude that HK seems to have towards civilians. That said I would probably jump on the chance to get a MP-5 even in semi auto. I do like that gun a lot. I would love to try a G3 or the semi auto version of it some day.

Indeed, I have noticed this with high dollar AR owners too. Most never shoot the damned things and only take them outta the safe for pictures.

No thanks, my Stag/spikes home brew does the job fine.

    Red face

    Well....I love HK, but I don't think I am a snob.

They made some great classic small arms. No one yet has designed a better submachine gun than the MP5...and that came out in 1964.

HK nowadays is only a shell of it's former self (due to the fact that the German Govt. now owns and runs the company). The last owner wasn't much better (a couple of Brits).

They used to make small arms that would last forever, but they had a high cost (due to machining tolerances).....now they specialize in cheap short lived disposable small arms (UMP, G36). Makes about as much sense as a screen door on a submarine if you ask me.
Here's to pussy and gunpowder. One to live for, the other to die by.....Goddamn though, I do love the smell of 'em both !!!

I have heard other guys mention this and from what ive seen I agree, they USED to be a good company. Now they are far from it and just the fact they piss on civilian markets like they do makes it worse for me.

Of course....when ANY Govt. owns a company, they could give a shit about serfs or even making money. If it hadn't been for the Nazi gun control law of '68 and the BS '89 ban, the original HK would still be here today.

While it is easy to pick on HK nowadays, everyone forgets that there are bigger POS companies right here in America....Colt, Olympic Arms, Gemtech, Ruger, H&R....they all make HK look great in comparison

    BTW and FWIW,

I really like the Steyr handguns like this one:

I got to fondle one at my local gunstore years ago... just pulling the slide back, the smoothness and trigger pull felt very much like an Hk for about HALF the cost.

Unfortunately, I don't think they import Steyr's any more...

I also really like the sights on it, they were "triangular" like this:

I'm sorry... but how does Sturm Ruger make HK look good?

I would love to have an MP5. I guess a Vector semi-auto will have to do.
I sold all my guns and ammo, now I live the quiet retired life.
