I know, I once fired some old 1957 East German, and some Serian 7.62x54R. I had some I would load twice and Fire again, if it did not work the second time I put it in the Range Dud Box we had.

    Thumbs up

Plus it was Sealed till he opened it reciently to sell off small Amounts like I bought. He still has Sealed Tin's of it. However I dont plan on keeping this long Term. Your right it is almost as old as I am. I shall shoot it all off soon. Paul

Sealin in a tin doesn't necessarily = going to work. I've had check ammo from the 1950's that was sealed in a 780 round crate. 25% duds, 25% hangfires. I wish you luck with it, just saying don't get your expectations whipped up too high. IMO if you haven't tried some of the Russian light ball that AIM Surplus has, you should.

When I owned 54 R weapons I was a junky for collecting the ammo. What I've had and shot was 60's Chinese copper washed, Russian, Bulgarian, Hungarian, Yugoslav, Czech, Albanian and East German. Russian from 1970 forward is very accurate and I never had a hangfire or dud. Yugoslav brass cased 180 gr. ammo is very accurate. Hungarian lt. ball was very accurate as was East German (which might of been made by the Hugarians for them). Czech from the 1950's sucked, from the 1960's forward in time was ok on primers but only so so on accuracy.

    ;) Nice !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had a few tins of Norinco ball that was hands down the best 7.62X53r I have used other than the 174g SMK in lapua cases. Still have one un-opened tin and some loose papaer wrapped 15 round packets but I save it for my better rifles with new bores. The 180g yellow tip factory 10 dated 55 and 64 are next on my list and I used them in my Finn Mosin rifles till i sold all eleven rifles but I would put it against most from 300m on out to the limit I care to engage around 500m. I was given a case of the 71N last year by a guy on another board but have not opened it yet so i can't comment. I would like a few of the white tip like you say to feed the need to sample it all.

The Chinese never made a "sniper" specific round in any quantity. What is being sold by this guy, and I want some for my collection, is type 53 ammo, just good ole ball ammo.
