He is absolutely right.

The Sheriff is the supreme law enforcement authority in his county.

I have often thought that if things go south, the Sheriff's will need to appoint deputized militia in their respective county to act to protect the citizens of that county.

They have the Constititutional power to do so and no other governmental agency or entity in our country has the authority to arrest or otherwise overrule the Sheriff.

Trouble is the Fedz have bought off most of our Sheriff's sovereignty with Homeland Security grants.
There are most definitely strings attached to the money.
