Angry Trying to find a quote....can any history buff out there help

I am in a debate/argument with an acquaintance on bookface....before he left MI for the left coast (Seattle) years ago...I called him a friend....now (after all the years on the left coast) he has fuckin lost it.

For instance, he feels FDR was the greatest American the world will ever see.....

Anyways, I'm trying to find the quote from a Nazi(a socialist just like him) at the Nuremberg trials who mentioned at some point in time.... "your grandchildren will surly hang from socialism".

For those that know me, I am loyal to a tee when it comes to friends or family...but he crossed the line this time....

BTW after FDR, he thinks JFK was the second greatest American ever......
Here's to pussy and gunpowder. One to live for, the other to die by.....Goddamn though, I do love the smell of 'em both !!!

Wasn't Nuremberg... It was Krushchev though, which makes it an even more powerful statement, in my opinion...

“I can prophecy that your grandchildren in America will live under socialism…Our firm conviction is that sooner or later Capitalism will give way to Socialism. Whether you like it or not, history is on our side. We will bury you.”
    - Nikita Krushchev, July 1957

“The United States will eventually fly the Communist red flag…The American people will hoist it themselves.” - Nikita Krushchev, July 19, 1962

Ask him if that includes the internment without charges and the occassional beating or murder for thousands of american citizens simply because of who their parents were and what they look like. Why does he hate people just because they look different or sound different than him?
History has a severe case of stuttering complicated by chronic hiccups.
It always repeats itself and it never fails that something will go horribly wrong along the way.

Direct democracy is a gang rape. Eight men vote to rape one woman and the woman has to accept it because the majority decided that it was ok. A constitutional republic on the other hand is eight men and one woman with a full mag. Think about it for a while until it hurts your head.

Just for the record, I believe the first Khruschev quote is slightly manufactured. He seems to have said everything there, but I'm having trouble tracing it to July 1957, and it is apparently compounded from several other quotes:

"I can prophecy that your grandchildren in America will live under socialism. And please do not be afraid of that. Your grandchildren will... not understand how their grandparents did not understand the progressive nature of a Socialist society."
--June 2, 1957, on Face the Nation

"Whether you like it or not, history is on our side. We will bury you."
--November 18, 1956, Polish Embassy reception, Moscow

As for the second quote, it's apparently legit, but it is sometimes seen coupled with a bogus quote about nudging our elected leaders toward socialism a bit at a time. Another quote essentially says essentially the same thing:

“I once said, "We will bury you," and I got into trouble with it. Of course we will not bury you with a shovel. Your own working class will bury you.”
--August 24, 1963, during a speech in Yugoslavia

Just so your friend doesn't try to deflect your challenge by saying Nikita was misquoted.

Perhaps this is what you are looking for. It is a bit of a conversation that the secretary of agriculture had with Khrushev,

“Your children will live under communism.” Khrushchev said.
“On the contrary,” Secretary Benson replied, “My grandchildren will live in freedom as I hope that all people will.”
Khrushchev then retorted: “You Americans are so gullible. No, you won’t accept Communism outright; but we’ll keep feeding you small doses of Socialism until you will finally wake up and find that you already have Communism. We won’t have to fight you; we’ll so weaken your economy, until you fall like overripe fruit into our hands.”
    Doobie Doobie Doo..

If the quote comes from the Nuremberg trials and not something else it sounds like something Karl Donitz may have said. That would be my second best guess and may help you narrow your search a bit.

This is the one that is widely reported as being apocryphal. I'd appreciate it if you could cite a source, if it is legit there are a lot of people who'd like to know where it is from. But parts of it have been widely posted on the Internet, and to my knowledge no scholars have been able to verify it.

Politicians are the same all over. They promise to build bridges even when there are no rivers.

Supposed quote was something like...'We will bury you....'

Actual: "Whether you like it or not, history is on our side. We will dig you in"

    ...................................

Stalin and Beria and Khrushchev would get together and drink. Stalin would force Khrushchev to dance for hours.

Yes, my understanding is that is the more literally correct translation. Though "We will bury you" is how it's usually been translated, and probably communicates what he was trying to get across better.

That's the thing, to him FDR was a great Democrat, and the farthest thing from a socialist. He thinks America wasn't great until WWII, and the Nation started it's decline with Reagen. But Clinton and 0bama have tried to save it...yadda yadda yadda.

Anyone who thinks the slide started during Reagan wasn't alive during Johnson, Nixon, Ford and Carter...

The vast majority of Americans, historians, and even conservatives would agree with him.

In polls of "best president" he consistently ranks in the top 3, along with George Washington and Abraham Lincoln.

Although here's a Roosevelt quote I'm sure you can have a field day with

We grudge no man a fortune in civil life if it is honorably obtained and well used. It is not even enough that it should have been gained without doing damage to the community. We should permit it to be gained only so long as the gaining represents benefit to the community. … The really big fortune, the swollen fortune, by the mere fact of its size, acquires qualities which differentiate it in kind as well as in degree from what is possessed by men of relatively small means. Therefore, I believe in a graduated income tax on big fortunes, and … a graduated inheritance tax on big fortunes, properly safeguarded against evasion, and increasing rapidly in amount with the size of the estate.

Yep, it was the wrong thing to do, it was unconstitutional.

But, on the other hand, maybe that was also the good old days when democrats were willing to do, at least a little bit more, of what it takes to win a war
