i killed my glock this morning. Permanently.

well after 36,000 rounds, 9 years of service and virtually no other problems, i managed to permanently kill my G17 9mm. sheared the left rear slide rail ear clean off.

the gun had fired 400+ rounds in this morning range session. initial issue was faiure to enter battery. after a tap rack bang drill the gun woud fire and the trigger would fail to reset. what caused it was obvious after teh silde was off.

(photos intentially large to show detail)

so now we get to see just how good Glocks customer service is. i feel this should be repaired for free, because there is no reason for a major structural compnonet to fail in that fashion after only 36,000 rounds. likely theyll tell me i have to buy a new frame.

You know how it is with those plastic pistols, 36,000 rounds is just the break in period for a 1911, right....

Actually Glock R&D might want that to see how the rest of it fared after 36K rounds.

actually all ive ever done to it is replaced the recoil srping every 10,000 rounds as a maintenance item and replaced a front sight i broke because of my own stupidity.

Just curious does the serial number start with an "E"???

There was a problem with the E-series Glocks where the rear frame rails were not bent correctly. There was a knda sorta "recall" by Glock that they called an "upgrade" to replace the frames.

If it's an E series you should be able to get it replaced for free.

theyre pretty good about shit that breaks .

they gave me a brand new G19 Gen 3 complete frame this year in trade for a Gen 1 frame that was never updated on a safety recall from 1992.

I'll probly get another brand new G19 frame next month as I picked up an unfired G19 made in 1990 that hasnt had any safety updates.

If it's an E series you should be able to get it replaced for free.
unless YOU fuck it up ( do retard custom work) OR are requesting work like refinishing, and a few other upgrades they replace almost anything for free.

Give em a call tomorrow and within a few seconds they'll tell you what you need to do.

Here's a thread with the phone numbers to call Glock about the E frame problems.

Since it was an "upgrade" not an actual recall Glock never contacted E series owners, but they will replace affected frames at no charge but you have to contact them.

IF anything.. your cost would be $155 . BUT with that type of failure I'm betting they hook you up.

THey send an Email after you talk with them with specific instructions.

Doesnt need overnighted or crap like that, Have your dealer UPS it or you can since it's repair work. I dont know your states rules but glock needed an FFL to ship it back to since I was getting a new Serial #

I really couldn't say I've never had to return any of my Glocks personally. I did have an E-series G27 is how I know about it, but sold it off years ago, never had any issues with it but never got past about 5K with it.

From what I've seen they're good about fixing this issue for free but I don't know what their shipping policy is.

Since Glock doesn't make that style of frame any more, it cannot be repaired, so it will probably be replaced.

They're still making Gen 3 frames.

Yeah Glock has came out with the Gen 4, but the Gen 3s are still in production.
