    Sheperds hook for NORINCO

My Norinco ak47 has a proble HUSTON...Thanks to an admin who brought the displaced pin for the trigger hooks I found no shepherd hook attached..Can someone please let me know where I can find one at and possible which one I need. I would appreciate it. Right now its just wool and alcohol breaking it down and thorough cleaning, but I would like to shoot it. Thanks for any tips.

This is the suggested replacement for those either having problems with "the wire" or those who don't want to fight it anymore:

Those are very simple and easy to use, but they do not prevent rotation of the axis pins. That's why even though they are a PITA, I still use a Bulgarian spring wire.

Does it function well? I ordered it, so I guess I will find out soon enough. Just curious if any problems though. Thanks!

    Talking Comparison

The whole rifle pic is the touch up... the second pic you can see the rust spots that had ate into the blue. They are all gone now. Wish I had a better pic, but I am still patting myself on the back

Added your photos to your post.

Personally I would wipe down the area that looks like it had rust spots on it with CLP on a cleaning patch. The CLP will clean up most of the remaining rust and protect the rifle from future problems.

I think you will be pleased with the retaining plate. I am surprised that there is no sheperd's hook, or in the case of the Norinco the retaining spring since they attached to the safety lever, I am wonder why your's is missing.

I use the Bulgarian wire retainer. It clamps on the trigger axis pin and prevents rotation. It's a pain in the rear to install and remove, but at least the receiver holes won't wear out.

Update is needed if you are still with us I can see in the top picture that the pin is out of place, but I see something that I can't believe I didn't remark about before, the receiver is set up for an underfolding stock!!! Would I love to find one of those considering I have an extra folder just sitting waiting for a rifle to attach it to!

I made this drawing for someone here a while back to show how (and how not) to have the retainer wire:
