It IS a nice looking shoe. I hate all those weird lines and bumps and crap on the new cross trainers and athletic shoes. But that shows my age. Remember Keds? We had canvas shoes with rubber soles and a lot of folks referred to them generically as "Tennis shoes".

I remember white leather high tops were the rage back when I was in high school in the mid 80's. They weren't worth fighting or killing for back then. Converse Chuck Taylors were for the punk or stoner types. Those Chuck Taylors never go out of style. I still see them in department stores.

When I was a kid Converse was ALL you had to choose from. Girls wore lowtops, boys wore hightops.

I'm old enough to remember fighting over who got the last of the mastodon steaks around the bonfire.

PF Fliers were my favorite shoes when I was growing up.

We had ghetto kids and nerds that wore leather shoes or Kmart sneakers or some other uncool footwear their parents made them wear.

They were of course laughed at and ridiculed by those of us with Converse.

Edited, I believe the local news media didn't check their source, the death occurred in a stampede in 2008.

Those were the days. I didn't even refer to footwear as shoes. I was like "Hey, where are my converse?" Lol

Ok, so now you all will know a little more of how I grew up. We never had the money for the Converse, so I got my tennis shoes from K-Mart. Within a couple of weeks they had ripped out the place where the instep should be and that is the way they stayed for about 6-8 months until I got another new pair. They were always black canvas with the sand colored rubber sole. When I started working I started buying my own shoes. I would get Nike or Pumas. Just the plain basketball, low top models, as I didn't want to waste my money, but I did want to at least sort of fit in.

I tried to push the envelope, but found that it was stationery.

Have you heard about the new corduroy pillows? They're making head lines!

Hm, now its the nerdy/ hipster kids that wear Chuck Taylors..

I have a black pair of high tops, I hate the black and white Chucks...And I cant stand low top sneakers... its either my high top shoes or boots.
