HENDERSONVILLE, N.C. -- A clerk at a business in Western North Carolina punched a would-be robber and knocked him out cold just minutes after the man barged in with a gun and demanded money.

It happened about 15 minutes before closing time Friday night at We Buy Gold store in Hendersonville.

There is video at the link. Check it out. The burglar was lucky this guy wasn't armed, which the story says is unusual. If he is willing to cold-cock a guy, I am fairly sure shooting him would not have taken much more thought.

It's ridiculous in a store like this. Even if the clerk takes some pity on the guy, the clerk knows he's on tape, and to just let him go would mean losing his own job.

If anyone ever tries to rob me at my hotel, I'll trigger the silent alarm then lead them into the back where the safe is and cold-clock him just like that guy in the video. Then I'll hold him at gun-point with his own gun until the police arrive.

15 years in prison is the average term for armed robbery, and all that over just $300 cash in the till. Morons can't do simple risk-reward analysis.
