    New Years Eve-Shots Fired

I've heard a few ring out in my neighborhood already. Its only 8:30. If I'm still up at 12 I may pop off a few from the deck into the ground.

    What about you guys?

When I had my gunshop I would give guys blanks so they weren't blasting live ammo at midnight, I'm not a fan of shooting live ammo.

In KY? Wow...my relatives in Sommerset consider it their patriotic duty. 4th of July, New Years, every other Saturday.

I would feel that would make me an irresponsible gun owner and cast other gun owners in a bad light.

I've lived in quite a few states, I can tell you it's just not KY where people like to fire off their guns celebration of various holidays (real or imaginary).

I'm with NAPOTS in it smacks of irresponsibility, plus I figure it's not that hard to get blanks and/or fire works. It's not like you couldn't plan ahead on when the 4th of july or Jan 1st is coming around

I don't see the harm as long as the rounds are discharged safely. Into soft ground is fine. Into the air is not.

I'm with Napots on this too, I'd rather conserve the ammo. I made a few deliveries tonight to the ghetto. That's all they were doing, some full auto in there too. The holidays is when out of town shooters make their hits. They know the people they are after may be low on ammo, possibly drunk or high, and harder to trace where it came from with everyone else shooting guns. We are staying in tonight.

Picked up a few Stingers at the last gun show. May pop-off a couple later.

I just unloaded my 9mm into a box. Inside was a large possum that my dogs cornered on the back porch.

I've got a single-shot black-powder pistol I load up and pack down with wads.

No projectile to worry about and it'll rattle the windows.

I bought a bunch of .223 blanks and an adapter for my Ar18, but my neighbor is an asshole so I probably won't do it unless I drink some more.

Don't think that's a good idea for a cop in Chicago. Happy new year to you and stay safe.

It's a felony to discharge a firearm in Phoenix, if you get caught you lose all your guns and your right to own guns, i got firecrackers instead, even firing into the ground is not worth the risk of losing my guns. The law is the result of a 13 year old girl who was killed by a bullet that some rowdy partiers fired into the air, not a smart thing to do in a crowded city.

The Sir is reserved for you. Thank you for being a great public servant and an all around good guy. Contrary to popular belief, I'm not totally anti authoritarian, just wish those in authority ALL had some internal switch that made them good people. Again stay safe and alert, there are many out there with no moral compass that will kill you for the joy of doing it.

people can be killed by falling bullets, and I love my rights too much to lose them

therefore, I will simply listen to the fools around me shoot off their guns and hope they don't damage my home with them
