    Yeah, I wasn't implying Muslims as much as it was an Arabic learning center. Since Islam wasn't around quite yet. If I am not mistaken, isn't that where the Septuagint was first translated and produced. In or around Alexandria?

    Yup...but I'll have to go look. If Julius, he was burning ships and the library was an accident. Certainly not his target.

    Cool deal! I didn't know there were alternate theories to it besides ole Julius torching some ships.

    So who did burn the Library of Alexandria? Unfortunately most of the writers from Plutarch (who apparently blamed Caesar) to Edward Gibbons (a staunch atheist or deist who liked very much to blame Christians and blamed Theophilus) to Bishop Gregory (who was particularly anti-Moslem, blamed Omar) all had an axe to grind and consequently must be seen as biased.
