    Post H&K develops a 7.62 Gas Piston

    New from H&K: MR762A1 Gas Piston AR-10

Posted on January 12, 2012 by Nick Leghorn

H&K manufactures the HK416 for the military market. The gas piston M-4 seems to be working pretty well for them (i.e. it’s still here). H&K doesn’t hate you that much; they make a civilian upper receiver kit for your purchasing pleasure (also debuting at SHOT). So far so 5.56 NATO. This new rifle, the MR762A1, is a civilian version of H&K’s G28 currently in use in Afghanistan. It’s a gas piston operated AR-10 rifle chambered in 7.62 NATO. I’ve never seen a good implementation of a gas piston in an AR-15 (or AR-10 for that matter), but I’m always on the look out for a new version to change my mind. Press release after the jump . . .

Heckler & Koch’s long anticipated MR762A1 rifle (in caliber 7.62 x 51 mm) debuts at SHOT Show 2012, joining the 5.56 mm model (MR556A1) released in 2011. The new MR762A1 rifle is inspired and influenced by recent Heckler & Koch piston driven rifles, including the new HK G28 designated marksman rifle developed for the German military.

I am sure they will also have a civilian version of this rifle just like they do their others.

    H&K, because we hate you.

Did you also put another roll of $100 bills in the john for TP?

Proprietary 10rd mags. Deal breaker, especially at that kind of pricing.
Once again HK thinks they are going to write a new standard...and once again will fail with it.

HK needs to go back to their roots.

If they'd make HK91's and HK93's for sale in the states they'd sell if they could keep them under $1200.

If they could do a semi HKG36 for the same price they'd sell too.

I think the .223s would sell better than the HK91 these days though.

I would much rather have the MRAD instead of giving a cent to HK

i do not like the way hk nueters its civilian versions like the usc/ump or sl8/g36 or this mr762/417 with the 10rd only mags fn isnt sending stupid thumbhole stocked scars or f2000"s that cant take hi cap mags there trying to give there guns elite status by making them hard to get or really expensive and not on performance the 417 just failed german military test and was rejected

Honestly I think they would sell real well for anything under 2000. There are a lot of poeple who like HK and would pay more than the 1200. Anything over 1200 though is more than I would be willing to pay. If they would make semi MP-5's I think those would sell really well too. They are dumb to piss on the US civilian market. They could make a killing if they would just sell what people wanted.
    Doobie Doobie Doo..
