New York State of Shock - Part II

Recent months have seen a Marine from Indiana, a Tea Party activist from California and a nurse from Tennessee all arrested and charged in New York City for possession of firearms they had legal permits to carry back home. All were “nabbed” when they naively sought to check the weapon with security. These innocents fell afoul of the nation’s toughest gun laws. But few New Yorkers know how those laws came to be.

Now I don't know if this is true or not, but I have heard that even certain types of folder knives, and even fixed blade knives like the Ka-Bar are illegal or hard to obtain legally in NYC. Any truth to that?

    Angry Back in the 60s...

My family moved to NY because of a job transfer. My Dad took his pistol, a Hi Standard target pistol, and my 1911 down to register them as state law said to do. However, the cops confiscated the pistols and my Dad had to hire a lawyer to get them back and shipped out of state. And, people wonder why I am so negative about ny.....chris3

Like I said before - NYC blows. Just boycott the place.

    They don't deserve our business.

Go to New Orleans or San Antonio or Orlando for your vacations - screw NYC and Bloomberg.

Ordinary citizens, on the other hand, were disarmed, which solved another problem: Gangsters had been bitterly complaining to Tammany that their victims sometimes shot back at them.

A pistol permit (i.e. CHL) is almost impossible to get in New York CITY. However, it's no problem anywhere else. Anyone can get a NY pistol permit unless they are a felon or have some other gremlins in their background.

The law requiring a NY pistol permit is, however, for all of NY. To carry (or even TOUCH) a pistol anywhere in NY, you need a pistol permit.

Also, NY has no reciprocity... no other state's permit is valid in NY.

In short... New York State sucks.

You need to keep them SCUM from coming down here into Pa.. They come down here into the flea markets in N.East Pa. and buy all sorts of B.B and Pellet guns because they need a permit back home. In doing so they bring their drugs and other trash with them. That place needs to be isolated like in the movie, Escape from New York.

Sorry... not much I can do. I live in the western part of NY (about as far away from NYC as I can be).

And in a few years I'm gonna be 2500 miles away from NYC! yippee!!!!

Can an out-of-stater get a NY pistol permit so they can be legal when they enter the state, or does it just apply to residents New York?

Nope. You have to be a resident.

You know what really sucks about this is that they are using their draconian laws to entrap otherwise law-abiding US citizens. They aren't stopping any violent crimes, nothing of the sort. It's just pure tyranny.

Nope. If you move there, you'll need to establish residency, acquire a pistol permit, and get all your handguns listed on the permit BEFORE you're allowed to bring them into the state. Generally that will require you to ship your guns to a NY FFL to hold on to for you while you get your permit, then go get them from the FFL. It may be legal to leave them with a friend or relative out of state, and go pick them up and bring them in to New York yourself on a later trip after having acquired your permit.

Best answer is not to move there. Period. Sorry Roger. The whole state is dominated by NYC - just like Illinois is dominated by Shitcago. No way I'd live in either state - add Kalifornication too.

If people simply started voting with their feet and others refused to visit, they'd be forced to get right.

I won't even go there. No interest. Just like europe....absolutely no interest.
    "What sick, barbaric bastards.

It's one thing to use terrorism to make a political statement, but the wanton mutilation and suffering of innocents? How does that forward your political goals? When done in the name of religion, how does that earn you brownie points with God?

Fuck religious extremism. And especially fuck the "religion of peace." "

So, lagcsocialist supports terrorism AS LONG AS ITS FOR POLITICAL ENDS....

Born and raised in New York City. Moved to Indiana when I turned 18 and am so glad I now live in one of the most firearm friendly states in the nation!!!!

Meanwhile, Bloomberg sends people out to illegally buy guns all over the nation and nothing is done. I guess some are above the law.
