    A night at Bob Evans.

My wife and I are going out later on, my daughter is at a friends house. My son is later going to one of his buddy's house. I really didn't feel like having leftovers. So, reluctantly we went to Bob Evans.

On the way out, I saw an older gentleman getting up to leave. Leg brace, using an arm with difficulty. I told my son to hold the door for the gentleman. I saw his POW/MIA hat. I just happend to be wearing one as well.

It was raining. I went to get my wife's van. Notice his POW plates on the car. So, my son went to shake his hand. As did I. He went to the back of his suv, and gave us two booklets. The man was Sgt. Gail Kerns. Pow 1969-1973. It was an honor to meet him.

The booklets detail his Millitary career, his time as a POW. Copies of his Broze star certificates. His two purple hearts. It was an incredible meeting.

Way better than staying home and eating leftovers.

God Bless all of you! I'll bet it was tough to hold back the tears.

A few years back, we attended a World War II fly-in. Every time a plane or formation made a pass overhad, those veterans that could still do so, stood up and saluted. I was teary eyed watching them.
