I hope not. Actually it's not a HOllywood piece. Lucas spent years trying to make it and acquire independent funding (including his own money) to do it. So the Hollywood system had nothing to do with the movie. The studios didn't like the project as written. Who knows if they were right? We'll find out soon enough.

On a side note, I know some of the cast personally. lesser minor characters. Nice enough guys, but I can't ask them if the movie sucks. LOL

Looks like a great movie to me, about one hell of a heroic group of men that helped defend our nation. I just wish that Hollywood would do more movies about WW2!

"Historians may not say it, but if it weren't for the success of the Tuskegee airmen, we wouldn't have won World War II," Luke Weathers III, Weathers' son said after the ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery today. "I mean that's just a fact. You're not going to find that in the history books.”

Yeah I am pissed to. I had family members that fought on the Gothic Line in Italy, Iwo Jima, And other Battles. I had one great uncle that was crazy from what I was told. Everyone in the family thought so from what I hear. It wasn't until about 2 years ago I found out he hit the beaches of Normandy, and later fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He survived them both! No wonder the poor guy had issues. All I ever heard was that he turned into a drunk and no one could reason with him. Heck! It was men like him that won the damn war, not just the Tuskegee Air Men.

I hope I don't get banned for saying this but why in "Black History month" so we hear more about the radicals and not the African American War hero's?

Instead of letting it be a good war flick, the radicals are using to once again, segregate themselves from society. As long as we continue to have shit like Black History Month, Spanish history n so on, there will be racism in America.

kind of hokey looking to me....I wish we could have a movie about them with the seriousness of a movie like 'the thin red line', thats not just a movie filled with cheezy one liners (how bout that mr. hitler) or crazy, sometimes unrealistic action scenes. I liked The Thin Red Line because it was a SERIOUS movie, that was supposed to make you think.

Just find some of these movies a bit off putting....

It's one thing to use terrorism to make a political statement, but the wanton mutilation and suffering of innocents? How does that forward your political goals? When done in the name of religion, how does that earn you brownie points with God?

Fuck religious extremism. And especially fuck the "religion of peace." "

A bit of a reality stretch. Still, everybody should feel that way about thier father's service record.

As a matter of record, I read about the "Redtails" 10-15 years ago.

They really were an elite group of men. I'd say most if not all of them had 'genius level' IQs and were at the top of thier respective classes. Throw in thier athleticism and they were surely a force to be reckoned with.

Read the book about the Tuskegee Airmen. It has been out at least forty years. You will get a lot more truth from it than any dang movie. The back of the book has all the details of losses and kills, and etc.,

The Red Tails did not get involved in action in Europe until the German Air Force was on its last legs, and had totally lost control of the air over Europe. Some of the German pilots were as young as 15, and had as little as 50 - 100 hours off training.

The Tuskegee Airmen started of with P-40s in North Africa. The P-40 was best at ground attack as compared to aerial fighting the Germans.

However, give the Red Tails their due ... they did not lose a single B-17 to German fighters during WWII.

During WW2 it was common for fighters to escort the bombers out then once everything was safe they would continue on with search and destroy missions hitting any targets of opportunity they could find.

Just a note. From the movie stills, the uniforms, flight suits, flight gear, cockpits, etc. are all 100% PERFECT. I had a WW2 historian take a look and he mentioned that not only was all the GEAR and wardrobe perfect, but they had the right amount of 'distressing'.

If they took all that time to get everything dialed down to perfect, I hope it's a good movie. I will prob see it this weekend.

If they had fuel they did, after bomber escort. The P47 was superior in cas over the P51 however.

I've mentioned before about an 84 y.o. retired bird colonel I know. I asked if he ever shot down any enemy aircraft. He said "no, but I got a couple of trains."

Trains were a big, big deal as they prevented the Nazi's from either reinforcing the front or retreating with their army intact.

Oh, he loved the P-47, but hated the P-51. Of course, he got shot down over the Sea of Japan during Korea while flying a P-51. Still has his oil soaked/stained pilots uniform from that day. Along with his leather WWII fighter pilot's jacket.

    REDSTAR's Father was a P51 pilot

For those who knew REDSTAR, knew about his father as Rick was a proud son of his father. His father Joe Peterburs was his HERO and role model in life. Let me share a little about his father a P51 pilot in WWII and Korea.

REDSTAR's (Rick Peterburs) father was the famous P51 pilot who shot down a German Ace who flew the German Messerschmitt 262 in WWII. Rick posted several articles that talked about his father and the German jet he shot down on the older server.

Rick Peterburs father is Joseph (Joe) Peterburs. He also has a website: www.joepeterburs.com

You can read about his father on the website, his father has an awesome military history. Lots of pictures on his website. Check it out!

In 1979, after over 36 years of active duty, Colonel Peterburs retired. He is a Command Pilot, a Master Air Weapons Controller and an inductee into the USAF Air Weapons Controller Hall of Fame. His military decorations include: The Legion of Merit, Distinguished Flying Cross w/ 1 OLC, Bronze Star w/ 1 OLC, Purple Heart w/ 1 OLC, Air Medal w/ 7 OLC, POW Medal and 32 other medals and decorations.
