A look at our primary from England

    22 January 2012
    Well, what a surprise (not)

    Published in: Daily Mail

Well well. So all those folk who were loudly asserting that Romney was a shoo-in have been made to look idiots yet again by Gingrich’s convincing win in South Carolina. All those who said the onslaught upon Gingrich by his ex-wife Marianne would leave him dead in the water, particularly among women, have been shown to be spectacularly out of touch. Gingrich actually won more women’s votes than his opponents.

What they saw in South Carolina was that, when Romney’s financial Achilles heel was pricked he stumbled and flailed; but when Gingrich’s sexual Achilles heel was similarly pricked he wrenched out the knife and hurled it back at his questioner.
    Game on, as they say.

Game on and we have just started to warm up, not a clear winner in the field from where I stand.

Yep, we have months to go still. I like Newt myself. Because I think not only is he the smartest, but the one most likely to seek revenge against the Communist-Democrats for all the shit they've done over the past 4 years.

I don't hold your hope. Don't forget this is the guy who could sit on a couch with Pelosi and tell us about global warming.

I see it as being expedient in keeping himself in the public eye.

Trust me, the libs hate this guy for a reason. Specifically, he single handedly defeated the Clinton socialist agenda. I think he'll do it again.

    Yeah that bugs me too.

But then again I don't agree with any of them on all the issues. There's RP and his "unique" views on foreign policy, then there's Romney and his signing an AWB, and Romney-care, plus just being a back-east liberal.

Definitely some slim pickings to choose from but of the bunch Newt is the one I proobably feel the least ashamed to vote for.

Wasn't meant to prove anything, it was a question on how does a person "single handedly defeat" something he couldn't even outlast?

Which explains the smears and why they had to get rid of him.

Personally, I have high hopes. But only time will tell.

So, he couldn't have continued to be a force out of office?

I don't know if he was or not, as I wasn't privy to his comings and goings, but I doubt that just because he stepped down as speaker that he lost influence in politics.

I'm really torn on Newt, I think he has the fight to take on obama, but he also seems flawed in as many ways as well. I'm fearful he could crash and burn just a quickly as he has risen. If we are going to be stuck with the people running as we are it might be a good thing the primary continues on. At this point if it's a choice between Newt or Romney I want them well tested before going off against obama.

I think it's universally accepted he had ethic issues that weakened him to the point of his continuing on would of been a distraction, even he admits to this.

I'll go Newt before I go Romney or Obongo. After doing more research... he might be the guy...

I'd gladly take Newt over Romney, however he has some issues too. In general though he seems to be alright, and a republican majority in the house and senate should keep him in check.

Ever charge was dropped but one. That revolved around a book deal. Ironically, Hillary C. also had a book deal, but was allowed to get away with it b/c she was not part of gov't. even though she was pushing hillarycare at the time. In other words, the Republicans can't but the Dims can!

Everyone talks about Romney's "electability" but frankly I don't see it.
    Imagine in a fictitious debate between The Romster and Bambam;

R: You directed the BATFE to allow assault rifles to walk south into the hands of Mexican drug cartels!
O: Assault rifles are the most dangerous type of firearm produced today as you well know from when you signed Massachusetts' own Assault Rifle Ban.
    No clear distinction made.

R: You pushed National Healthcare into law against the will of the people and broke your own campaign promises to do it!
O: Healthcare is a very important concern in this country as you well know since the national healthcare bill is modeled after the healthcare bill you signed into law as Governor of Massachusetts.
    No clear distinction made.

R: Under your administration taxes have been raised in a misguided attempt to restore the economy but they have done more harm than good!
O: When you were Governor of Massachusetts you raised or created new taxes on ninety government services in order to increase revenue including, court fillings, marriage licenses and firearm licenses.
    No clear distinction made.

Since Obama can't stand on his record he will tear down Romney to make them look the same and that's not very difficult.

Illinois doesn't get a primary until April or May so I don't get first pick of the litter but I'll put my name down next to Newt if he's still in or Santorum if he isn't.
If neither of those two are in my primary then I'll stay home, get drunk and stay drunk until November when I have to vote for that East Coast, RINO, piece of shit, Romney.
This is just my opinion and it's entirely correct.

You have Ron Paul, an American conservative who has never voted for increased taxes, gun laws, or war, and you have the rinos who did. A rino vote is a dem vote. 0bama wins even if he loses.

If Paul gets here I promise you I'll vote for him, the thing is I'm not sure if he's running or on a lecture circuit.
