    SKS-M

Had the M about 2 years now. Great rifle, very accurate (1.5 MOA).

    Just acquired mine last year.
I still need to get to the range with it!

That is one weapon I would still really like to have.

I looked for 18 years until I found one, I had never seen one in person until that day, and there was two of them in the rack. I about died, one was bubba with a thumbhole stock, the one in the picture looked like it had never been fired, both were the same price so got the one above.

What does the M stand for?
While no one ever listens to me,

I seem to recall someone saying the "M" was for magazine.
...maybe the "D" is for detachable too.

...if you're talking about an "M" that's about market.
    (maybe a little high)
    ...if a "D" it's a pretty good deal.

I'm not up on these. I see three different stock styles in the two pictures. What is the difference.

There is a thumbhole for the M as well. I have a trade working right now on another board to get the thumbhole.

The shorter "paratrooper length" one (top of pic) with ground bayo lug is the M model.
The longer one with the bayonet is the "D" model.
It (in it's original form) has a detachable bayonet.

Arent the D & M the designations for the models that take AK mags. One is the rifle and the other is the carbine right?

The thumbhole is the correct stock for one of them correct?

They aren't as rare as a .223 sks but they aren't falling out of the sky either.
