Why conservatives suck

I agreed with him on all but one point. The Middle East doesn't hate us for who we are, they hate us for what we do. We didn't have any problems with them until we stationed American soldiers in downtown Beirut as peacekeepers, and we haven't left their region since. They want us out of their back yard just as much as we want them out of ours. We need to face the cold, hard reality rather than just blaming their hatred on something we cannot control.

there seems something is wrong with the current definition of "conservative" . . . for example:

conservatives believe in undeclared wars of aggression

conservatives want to pick and choose what parts of the constitution they believe in

conservatives want to eliminate government programs (unless the program benefits them)

conservatives don't want to pay their fair share of taxes

conservatives believe unions are the cause of society's ills

conservatives believe Jesus was a white guy (and protestant)

conservatives can't embrace change in technology or social norms

That is what happens when you lose your voice in society as has happened with few if any conservatives being journalists. Things are getting better with the internet but for many years conservatives have lost the ability to articulate what we stand for so liberals have been able to distort what we believe into something it is not, and in the process turn people who believe in freedom to succeed (and fail), people who expect the most of others to be demonized as hateful and uncaring. It will take a long time to fix this and until it is, conservatives will be playing a game of catchup.
