    DENVER (CBS4) – Some Colorado lawmakers want people to be able to use gold and silver coins as currency.

    A bill before the state Senate would legalize the coins. Utah already has a similar measure in place and 12 other states are considering such plans.

    Not to quibble, but they are, and have been, legal for some time. Go take a $5 gold coin into a store and see who refuses to sell you a $4 hamburger and give you a dollar change. Or buy a candy bar with 5 silver quarters and see if they say no, they aren't legal.
