The men and women in uniform appreciate it very much.
That being said, don't mis-interperate the shy looking away reply of thank you. They always think they haven't done enough to deserve it. It's their humility that makes them awkward in showing their gratitude.
Say thank you and understand when they can't look you in the eye when they say thank you, that they are grateful.

Not all Muslims do it, but it's just a show of respect and love to one another. And to say "Habib Albi" with it means you're in my heart. In the arabic language love is used freely between men and has no sexual connotation to it as America might percieve it as "gay". Hope this helps you. Peace.
