    Some president

BOGOTA (Reuters) - Colombian troops killed 33 FARC rebels on Wednesday in an oil-producing region close to the border with Venezuela, the government said, in one of the harshest blows against the drug-funded group in more than a year.

""I am determined to achieve the necessary peace we need in our country," President Juan Manuel Santos said in an address in Bogota. "We won't lower our guard, we'll keep advancing with a rifle in one hand and the constitution in the other.""

If he didn't have to read the Constitution but had it to protect himself from the sun, I could see him saying that. Oh yeah, and it would be his body guard with the rifle. So I guess I can't imagine our President saying that.

I tried to push the envelope, but found that it was stationery.

Ok...lets have a peek at that constitution and see what that statement means.

Text of the Colombian Constitution of 1991, in English PDF warning

I did'nt read the whole thing, but of what i did read, that is one screwed up convoluted contradicting document prescribing an (impending) eventual slide into a socialist dictatorship. They pretty much screwed the pooch when they wrote it.

That statement reminds me of ol Chavez thumping his chest vowing to get to the truth about the death of some ex president (Bolivar? maybe?...whatever) when he dug up the corpse that had been dead for over a century.

It always repeats itself and it never fails that something will go horribly wrong along the way.

Direct democracy is a gang rape. Eight men vote to rape one woman and the woman has to accept it because the majority decided that it was ok. A constitutional republic on the other hand is eight men and one woman with a full mag. Think about it for a while until it hurts your head.

True a lot of South American regimes are in love with Fidel and Che, but we have our own constitution based upon freedom, not slavery.
