Cool new rifle: Ruger 10/22 Takedown

Now this is neat. Ruger is going to be putting out a take-down version of the 10/22, and it even comes with a backpack to carry it in. I like it, but I'm not sure if I'll ever purchase one, as my 10/22 is already pretty "packable" with its Butler Creek folding stock.

After studying some pictures of this design, I believe that it would be possible to modify an aftermarket stock to fit the 10/22 Takedown. Use a Dremel to cut the stock in the appropriate place and then make a cut-out in the fore-end to allow room for the take-down switch. Do this to a folding stock and it would make this even more compact.

I subscribe to the theory that if it aint broke, don't fix it, however, this is starting to grow on me. If the price is right, I'd be tempted to buy one.

I wonder if you can purchase that back pack separately?

Well, it didn't take long for somebody to try to mod a Butler Creek folding stock to fit this rifle. I like the looks of it, and it makes it even more compact!

I put a "youth stock" on my 10/22 for my son to use when he was little. It makes a nice compact little package even though it's not foldable.

got to handle one last week.

Very nicely done, comes apart in seconds. Bolt has to be locked back though.

    price was $300.

I've been pondering one of these too, the question is does it offer much of an advantage over one of these?

That would make a handy little utility rifle IMHO.

    Might have to consider it!
