Lessons on Chinese AK variants, thread 2.

    http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/Vie...Item=290813772

As in my first thread, there are issues with the rifle and description.

Again, I will give the seller the benefit of the doubt, and would like to know if he is the original owner, and can verify his claims.

Answer to what is wrong later.

Ain't that an ACE folding stock? Doesn't look like any import stock that I've seen.

Yes, that is not the correct stock for an 84S. He does make the statement that this is the way the rifle was delivered in "1984". The 84S was only imported with a wood stock, and was one of the last Norinco imports before the Bush1 brain explosion in 1989, not earlier.

That is why I would like to know if he was the original owner, and can prove that the rifle was imported with that stock.

There were 4 versions of the 84S imported, not counting two barrel lengths.
The 84S came with a standard Chinese wood stock set, fixed stock.
The 84S-1 was an underfolder, with wood furniture.
There were no 84S-2 officially imported.
The 84S-3A was all black plastic furniture with a NATO length fixed black plastic stock.
The 84S-5A was a side folder with black furniture.

Also the 84S series were originally offered in 3 barrel lengthes (14, 16, and 18 inches) and in either wood, black plastic, or orange/brown furniture. The list above describe the furniture with models that were actually imported, as well as the 84S and 84S-1 were imported in both 16 and 18 inch barrels, but the 18s are very rare.

The Chinese were willing to make an AK in any variation that the importer wanted, but the minimum order was usually 200 rifles in that style.
