    Anyone have a SAR-2?

I like my SAR-2, but it's missing the correct cleaning rod. Any idea where to get one?

My SAR-2 after conversion to aims-74 style.

And here it is b4 the facelift.

The SAR rifles are my favorite AK type imports. Even in there neutered configuration I think they are truly exceptional.

Unfortunately, K-var is the easiest place to find the correct cleaning rods as GringoLoco indicated.

    Here are my two SAR-2s:

Both have Romanian up-turned charging handle bolt-carriers and threaded FSB. They are my favorite AKs!

Great gun porn! I'm going to convert my SAR 2 to the side folder with donkey dick grip.
I've got the Romanian front site block, and US break from CNC Warrior.

Had one, sold it when it looked like ammo was going to be impossible to get. Every now and then I have a twinge of regret about having sold it. It was very accurate by AK standards.

I painted it myself, used krylon ultra flat camo paint. Comes off with solvent, so it's easier to change/remove than duracoat. It's been painted like that for years, and it has been holding up well. If it gets too messed up, it's easy to touch up/re-do.

Why not keep this going as an SAR-2 show off thread!

I did the wood to match the mag. The handguards are also laminated, but it is hard to see.

The big thing I like about the SAR-2 is with the AK-74 brake it is softer shooting than many .22LR semi-autos. I like demonstrating it by holding it off shoulder, and just lay the handguards in my open hand. Then fire a round and showing that the rifle just doesn't move. Great training rifle for a new shooter, or someone afraid of recoil.

The only issue with this rifle is that it is an early Century with one of their fabulous hammers made of butter. I intend to keep using it until there is nothing left as it mushrooms down to a flat surface. I have extra hammers so it is no problem, just amazing to see the junk that Century installed thanks to laws that violate our rights.

I would like to add a 74 brake to my SAR 3. Are your 74 brakes American or European? Which one would you recommend?

I just got an SAR2 a few weeks ago.
It is strip down at the moment.
I put on the correct FSB and have a Rom front brake for it.
Have the finish all off and ready for duracoat this weekend.
Im going with an east german sidefolder because I had trouble looking for a romanian folder when I was shopping for one and AFTER I bought the EG I found a whole buttload of rom folders everywhere.(wtf).
Anyways I hope to have it done this next wseek and out shooting next weekend.
As others have said, when all else fails,Kvar has it.
