Yep, like that. I'll be darn. Not only does that knife look familiar, so does that deck.

Mine's in stainless. Got it off fleebay, or gun broker, a few years ago. No compass, fishing kit, or little black pouches. But it's serviceable enough.

    Sweet!

I've got my threaded grappling hooks and sheath in my knife box. I don't keep mine in the sheath because the metal lining got rusted in there.

I need to get a new production sheath and just keep the old one as part of the collection.

I always want one. Have you ever got to use the saw back teeth on it?

No I haven't. My uncle "tested" this blade in the 80's, put it up throughout the 90's, and gave it to me in the early 2000's, where it safely resided in my gun collection until it taught me a hard lesson in carbon steel knife care several years later.

I would also add that the blade is so thick, I'm not sure you would want to use the saw back for making trap notches. I'm no trap man, but the notches it creates may be too big for the job.

The current issue bayonet is very similar in design.

If on foot the amount of gear one can carry is going to be limited. I too like the SKS, but given the choice, I would grab my PTR91, scope, maybe 3 magazines, the NVD, and cleaning kit. Remaining carry capacity for necessities like bug spray, skivvies, sox, compass, maps, freeze dried rations, water, etc.
