Not 100% sure but I don't believe Simple Green will hurt the finish on your AK. You could just stick with hot, soapy water followed by a normal cleaning and oiling.

Simple Greet is great stuff and will cut any grease that I've cleaned up with it...just wash it all off when you are finished and oil up and use some graphite where required.

Hell, that's what I do after using corrosive ammo.
The ammonia in the urine neutralizes the corrosive salts.

If you don't have to piss, use windex w/ammomia, then oil as usual.
There's no problem an AK can't solve...........

That's awesome but I have also head of using baking soda and water to clean the gun and neutralize the salts I don't know how I feel about that and don't know if I would try it with out a second opinion

Wild. You can use soap, or Simple Green, urine, baking soda or kryptonite and it doesn't really matter. It's the water that disolves the chlorine salts and washes them away. This reduces/eliminates the hydrophilic effect created by the salt residue. Arguably, the use of extremely hot water and a small amount of detergent help (maybe slightly), but it's not technically neccesary.
