Found a SA stamped Russian refurb

Today I found an Izhevsk 1935 with a round receiver and SA stamp. It's typical refurb condition, restamped matching, reblued, with all the normal accessories (BTW round globe front sight). It has the CAI receiver billboard marked as coming from Russia. I was able to get at the sale price of $89 which was nice (I think they went off sale Monday). It must of had an interesting life, I assume captured early on then recaptured sometime later then I assume given to Ukraine from where it was then exported here.

Here's the pictures, I tried white paint on the receiver ring and hope the marks show up well enough. The SA stamp is in the normal position on the left side of the ring, the refurb mark is on top where it is also found, the rest of the rifle pretty much show typical Russian refurb condition.

Yes the old receiver billboard. To hard to put it under the barrel between the cleaning rod i suppose. Very nice rifle none the less.

    Thanks for the pics.

On this one rifle I think the bilboard (sort of) helps tell the story, it shows if nothing else it shows it was imported from Russia (or Ukraine I believe) and not Finland. This way I don't have to hear it was a nice Finn till I reblued it, fixed it up, stuck it in a refurb stock, ground down and restamped the numbers so they matched. I can point to the Russians and say they did it...LOL

A local gun shop got four crates of Soviet 91/30s in to sell. I offered to sort them for markings and we ended up culling out three SA-marked "recaptures" the store sold to local collectors who were drooling to get them. Also found were four "cn" ex-snipers, one "MO" and five early hexes, each with one of two versions of Peter the Great Tula barrel shank markings. The condition of the 91-30s in these crates was astounding. Certainly the best I've seen.

Cool thanks for posting the picks. I haven't been out hunting for new Mosins for a long time. Perhaps I should get another soon.
