    Shooting At Newtown Elementary School

    Shooting At Newtown Elementary School

    NEWTOWN—

State police are responding to a report of a shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School on Dickinson Drive, school officials said.

Police are reporting a number of injured parties. The nature of their injuries is not clear.

There are unconfirmed reports of two shooters — one dead, one still at large.

Shortly after 9:40 a.m., police reported that a shooter was in the main office of the school. A person in one room had “numerous gunshot wounds,” police said.

Groups of students — some crying, some holding hands — were being escorted away from the school by their teachers. Some students were still in the school at 10:30 a.m., parents said.

Dozens of state troopers are on the scene assisting local police.

A staging area has been set up for students and their parents near the school.

    Check back for updates.
Looks like a "work place" shooting right now. But two shooters? Sound like just the office was involved...

This would have been over in minutes if schools were "gun zones" instead of "gun free zones". This will keep happening until school officials are allowed to carry.

Not possible. Guns are not allowed in schools.

Sure seems like the pace of these types of incidents is quickening.

Just heard the number of victims reported as a dozen or more. Didn't say how many were dead or wounded but it appeared to me that they were talking children and adults in the toll.

Another islamic terror attack against children and teachers I'm betting...muslims are responsible for all such crimes as is evidently clear from news reports worldwide.

Welcome to the fuse being lit for gun control. Unfortunately it was gun control that allows this to happen. Schools and other "gun-free zones" are just ripe for nut-cases to further the cause of government freedom stomping. Unfortunately common sense will not prevail, and it is sad that due to this horror, some politician will try to push their agenda.

PS, my brother is a teacher in a neighboring school district. I will call him later and see if he has any inside info.

Seeing reports of 27 dead... 8 adults. If there were two shooters this sounds more like sudden jihad sendrome...

The pace of incidents will continue to increase until such time as major gun legislation is passed. I believe gun confiscation is the goal. I am 61 and when I was a kid you could mail order guns, but for some reason we didn't have people shooting up schools.

Supposedly the shooter dead at the scene was the father of a student at the school in question. It sounds like there may have been a second shooter who escaped in a red van.

    This is insane.

    Now reporting a second shooter.

Military style como and a bulletproof vest...

27 dead, 8 adults 18 children and one of the shooters.

    Certainly smacks of terrorist.

Reported one of the guns was a .223

    Is that a shotgun John?

One would think that reporters should have to pass some sort of intelligence test before they are allowed to pontificate.
