I know the seller, and have been watching the bidding. It has gone flat out nuts in the last half hour!
That 15 min rule is a great one for sellers, and close to the way live auctions run.

HK MR556A1 M4 Carbine AR15
It is at over $4K and still going by the same seller! This guy is making some cash!
I like the SAR1 & 2, but if I can make over a grand on them...
the problem with that is who knows if you'll ever be able to replace them, the smith was no big loss as I didn't consider that a "real" ar (and I already had a replacement put on layaway)
here's a pieced together m4 with crappy optics, $3900

Makes me want to sell a few ak's or ar's or a stack or two of pmags lol
weren't one of you guys here looking for primers?
"They are built much better than the current Wasr AKs." - that's funny, but I don't remember it like that.
The SAR-1 was imported as an evil weapon with the standard AKM receiver and trunion, along with bayo lug and all internals. The Romanians did not use muzzle devices on their training rifles so the barrels were never threaded. They were semi-auto only so there was no need for a muzzle device. The SAR-1 was the only military issue AKM imported, and Century changed the fire control group, gas piston and pistol grip and removed the bayo lug ears to make it a sporting rifle. Unfortunately ATF realized that they were allowing the rifle into this country in it's "non-sporting" condition and banned it.
All WASRs entered the country with receivers only able to accept single stack mags, with the early ones even having a special trunion for the narrow mag. Later WASRs started using the standard AKM trunion but ATF was happy that they were coming in with narrow mag openings, meeting the sporting purpose clause of the new ATF second amendment.
It was because the SAR-1 was a rifle used by the Romanian military trainees that they were not perfect, which gave them the reputation for having crooked or canted front sights, gas blocks and even rear sight blocks. Being military issue and not commercial rifles, function was more important than form. Look at the nice bluing of most of the Chinese AK/AKM variants as they were pure commercial rifles primarily for sales in the country of shall not be infringed. While you can find a canted sight on a Chinese AK/AKM those were the rare ones.
My personal feeling about the WASR series is that there might have been more than one group making them which would account for the fact that some looked better than others, but it was still Century's responsibility to open the mag well, and that was pot luck sometimes.
I wish they were still $350.
"I'm fucking furious, I'm violently angry, and I like it. If you don't know what that feels like then I feel bad for you"
