    Question AMD-65 Side rail?

    Hi all,

I just purchased an amd-65 (have not received it yet), and from every resourse that i've seen i gather that it doesn't come with a side rail mount.

I'm probably going to want to put a detachable scope on this, and i'd like to keep it towards the back, so i'm wondering if anyone here has ever put a side rail mount on an amd-65.
if so, which would fit the best? also the best way of attaching it to the receiver.

This is the side rail that i was thing about using, but still shopping around.

p.s. excuse me if my terminology is off with "side rail" vs. "side rail mount". but i think you get my meaning.

If you are not familiar with drilling and riveting. Than you will need to find a gunsmith to add a rail on to the side of the receiver.
I tried to think of other options, but since the AMD 65 has an integrated folding stock. I think that is the only good option.
David’s has the rail. It’s referred to as an “AK side mount plate” and is half way down the page. $12.99

and it's the right configuration for the amd-65, right?

the reason i ask this is that i don't want one where it requires the removal of one of the rear trunnion rivets. even though i'll more than likely have a gunsmith pop it on for me just to make sure that it gets setup nice.

and if it is the right one i'm still gonna have to look around for a place that don't rip people off when it comes to shipping charges. i hate that .

oh, and btw, thanks for your help.

    LOL
That flat rate shipping works both ways. You could always get your mount and optics from them and the shipping would stay the same.

I used my Mill and Rivet jig to put this one on. You will not need to worry about the existing rivets. But you will have to drill 3 holes through the hardened receiver. which without the right tools, can be a task in itself. The plate has to be parallel with the top rail. so the holes have to be perfect. I built a jig that clamps in the Mill vice that works like a charm.

heh, i see what you mean about the flat rate deal. i guess i shouldn't have jumped to the wrong conclusion like that.

oh well, just gettin' a little uppity about the gun i guess....
