Cool What are your "Grail guns" ????

What I mean, is small arms that actually exist...no stupid sci-fi shit.

I am sure that for the most of us, the things that keep us from finishing out our collection has to do with unconstitutional laws AND a lack of money.

...notice how "AND" is capitalized, 'cuz let's face it....if you have got the cash, no unconstitutional law is gonna get in your way

You don't have to worry about saying select fire or FA, that's a given....

So here is my short list...

    Swiss 20MM Solothurn
    SIG P210
    SIG STG57
    SIG SG542

In the "we have a second amendment that has been stomped all over" category is the Steyr AUG.

In the category of "The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed" it is obviously a Soviet made Avtomat Kalashnikova.

In a perfect world, I would have an HK416. I'd also get one of these too.

Mine was the C-96 (Broomhandle) Mauser in 9mm. I've wanted one ever since I first saw one as a kid.

Actually, I got one in the early 70's when China was exporting them.

So, I already have my "grail" gun.

Friend has both the Aug and a MSAR and he likes the MSAR way better. In fact he has several.

For myself I would have to say a Barret but could never justify it for myself. A KSG 12 ga would be nice and is always a possiblity I guess.

I'm basically happy with what I have.

Been to Switzerland, see the 20 mm Solothurn anti-tank gun (pronounced zoe-low-turn in Swiss German). Very big weapon, very heavy, very not man portable. Still it would be cool to have the acreage to fire one on. The Sig P210, shot one twice on a Swiss gun range. They are a hammer biting some-bitch, chew a hole in the web of your hand in one box of shells or less. Shot the STG57, lowest recoiling gun of such power factor I have shot and I thought pretty good accuracy as well. Unfortnately I only got to shoot it on a 25yrd indoor range off the bipod. Recoil is about like an AR15, very managable.

My holy grail would be an M2HB and a GE Mini Gun.

    MG 42

Any belt-fed water-cooled MG from WWI or II: Maxim, Vickers, Browning.

A .50 Ma Duece or 12.7 Dishka would be nice, also.

I'd be happy to get a full auto AK-47 - the real deal I mean. Specifically, a type III would be nice.

I have a semi-auto version and would really like an original selective fire one.

    Selective fire M-4.

50,000 rounds of ammo for both!!!!

A belt fed 50BMG would be cool too...

1890's Colt SAA's - I'd like one of each type.

    WWI and WWII 1911's.

This is a hard one there are so many I would like,

    Old WW2 colt M1911A1
    Australian L1A1
    M-14
    PKM
    F-88
    1919A4
    M1 Garand
    M1897 trench gun
    SPAS 12
    FN MAG
    BAR
    Barret M82
    Mp-5
    Sterling
    Thompson
    C1A1 Rifle
    M1A1 Carbine
    SV-98
    L96A1
    No4(T)
    L42A1
    Canadian Hi Power

Those are the ones I could think of off the top of my head. Out of that list I have a semi auto version of most of those. So I figure I am doing pretty good. Out of what is left I doubt I will see most of it due to lack of funds.

I'm sure something will come along I hadn't thought of, but I've been at this a pretty long while, and have owned many different firearms over the years. My little collection right now is the result of 40 years of culling the herd, and acquiring suitable stock. *To me* anymore, the new manufactured stuff is suspect of manufacturing defects and design flaws. The last several US made firearms each one had to go to the factory before I even shot it due to some dimensional failure or a very obvious manufacturing defect. It saddens me that these consistent failures in US manufactured firearms have really diminished my willingness to try any more of them.

So I pretty much stick with systems i know and understand from yesteryear, and do my utmost to enjoy the rifles I have.

One never knows what may come along and flip a switch...
