    Best place for the gun?

You see a lot of people with the classic gun behind the front door. Incase a bad guy comes. I think that's a very bad choice. What if you have a home invasion and somebody kicks in the door or is attempting too. Is your best choice run to the danger to get your weapon? And what if they do break in and see oh a handy weapon ready and waiting.

I think the best place would be the top of the first floor stairs. Usually easy to retreat to and provides cover. And is also ideal if you are already on the 2nd floor. For single story houses I would say a hallway to bedrooms.

    Any other suggestions?
When some wild-eyed, eight-foot-tall maniac grabs your neck, taps the back of your favorite head up against the barroom wall, and he looks you crooked in the eye and he asks you if ya paid your dues, you just stare that big sucker right back in the eye, and you remember what ol' Jack Burton always says at a time like that: "Have ya paid your dues, Jack?" Bed side, you spend a lot of time there. I have the couch gun for when we are there. I have 43 acres so I open carry when out side. So do several neighbors.

Bedroom door and den under my desk. I live in a single level house with a crawl space so trying to find a stairwell would be kind of tricky.

Next to the bed, if you are at the point where you have to have one stashed in every room in the house it's time to move into a better neighborhood.

Best place is to holster it and wear it. That way no matter where you are in your home you're 1 second and an arm reach away from it. You might consider some of those Gun Clock or Picture frames that can hold a handgun and mags as well.

I think my PJ's would fall down a lot if I had a holster on.

I keep mine next to my bed with another in the closet in case I need a back-up. I keep the back-up next to my sword, which for when all else fails!

If you are more than two steps away from a gun at any time you're two steps too far. Nothing wrong with a "bed gun", "kitchen drawer gun", "couch/recliner gun", etc. As Schuetzenman stated a gun on your person is the best way to ensure you're never too far away. A shoulder rig would work great since it doesn't require a belt of any kind and it's out of the way and easily accessible whether you're sitting on the couch, at your computer or having a relaxing read on the toilet.

.357 and flashlight on night stand in case somebody gets to my room before I can get up. Nothing in living or dining room. Hunting guns in kitchen closet with ammo for them on the shelf below the guns. I'm never more than 4 or 5 steps from the rooms where guns are. Nothing wrong with my neighborhood but the closest deputy sheriff is 35 minutes from me and there is a Super Max prison just 7 miles down the road. Advantage to living in the woods is I can step out on to the porch, scratch what itches and shoot without alarming the neighbors. In other words isolated but I will take that to any house in town.

I keep the same .357 and a flashlight in the night stand. The last time we needed the cops it took them over an hour to show up. If it ever goes down, I think I am on my own.

I have been debating putting the 590 in the corner of the bedroom but it collected a ton of dust the last time I had it out.

As I mentioned in threads previous to this, no nightstand placement for me.
At night, which ever gun I choose to have close at hand, whether it be a CZ-82, Ruger P89. or a SKS bullpup (20 rd.), they are no more than 8" from me......in bed. Since my GF works nights, the warm, fuzzy feeling of having a steel gal close at hand makes me sleep better.

It doesn't hurt to have another partner in the house, like him as an early warning system.

There's no problem an AK can't solve...........

    Pics of this bullpup?

Well that is interesting. I figured you'd have ak pistol by the bed.

Lets see, I've got my little Ruger LCP here in the office, I keep a Colt 1911 in my night stand and have a 12 gauge Benelli behind the headboard.

Yep, a shoulder ring requires no belt.

You might be surprised. I wear pj bottoms and a t-shirt to bed. Shoot in the winter I have flannel pj's!

Fortunately I live in the country. Oklahoma is an open carry state with a license. I carry openly from the time I get up till the time I retire. I have 3 dogs outside and 3 dogs inside. A lot of the time the dogs outside bark when their space is invaded by critters of all sorts. The dogs inside let us know when someone is at the door. My 45 is on my hip unless I'm sleeping then it sits on the dresser next to the bed. The AK is just inside the bedroom door. The rest of my guns are in my mancave which I keep locked up unless i'm in there. I have to keep them locked up because I have a 14 year old autistic grandson were raising. The wife has a Charter Arms 38 cal snubby she keeps on her person. Oklahoma Law provides us the ability to openly carry on your own property or property you control without a license. The moment you step off your property you need a license to either openly carry or conceal carry. Places with gunbuster signs on their doors are bypassed by us and we spend our money where there is no signs preventing us from defending ourselves. Our church allows concealed carry only so we don't scare the older members of the congregation, but most of them carry anyway. There are some members that feel uncomfortable with us openly carrying. With the increase of violence towards churches, we are not paranoid, we are prepared. Better to have and not need then to need and not have.
