He says he put $800 worth of work into the rifle. Is that what he expects someone to pay for it? I wouldn't pay that much unless the scope is worth that. I am guessing though it is a run of the mill wally world quality scope.

I've seen them here for $150 to $200 or so. Some pawn shops will price WAY high though... The scope in this case could be worth more than the rifle...

That said I was considering a Bubba'd C&R rifle as a hunting rifle... found a 1903, but it was a little pricey also (but not THIS out of line!).

If he put $800 into it, he got taken to the cleaners! This also illustraits why Sporterizng classic military rifles is a losing proposition and not worth doing.

worth it in the 50's/60's BUT today....

by the time you buy a new barrel/tools or pay someone to do it, you could have had that new savage or CZ sitting on the shelf for a few bucks less...

Instead of going bubba, sell me your old guns cause you need booze money without your wife finding out.
You like booze more than guns so do it.

( my mind trick, don't steal it or use it without my permission)

yes, one of the great parts of CNC machining is that even the sub $300 rifles today will do MOA or better straight off the shelf. For $500 you can have a rifle, rings, bases, and decent glass.
