    Ouch, That is Expensive!

    Just drove out to the only outdoor range I could find in the DC area. It is a private range, nicely maintained, with trap, skeet, five stand for shotgun and various rifle and pistol ranges up to 300 yards. It is not too far from my apartment, about 35 minutes. I asked what the dues were and this is what I was told;

    For an Associate membership it is $1500 initiation fee and then $450 a year. For a Full Membership it is $3000 initiation and $450 a year. I will only be here for 3 years so it would cost me a minimum of about $1000 a year to belong to this club. In Washington I was had to talk myself into $75 a year. $1000 a year! I cannot wait to move from here.

    I tried to push the envelope, but found that it was stationery.

    Have you heard about the new corduroy pillows? They're making head lines!

    just drive though some of the nastier sections of DC and pop a few rounds down alleys and what not, I'm sure no one will notice a few more gunshots.

    I go to the NRA range, it is also close to where I live. Great facility but it is $15 an hour. I could shoot as long as I wanted for $10 an hour back home at the nearest indoor range. Nothing is easy here.

    DNR ranges in Indiana are free, and although they have some nice facilities, you also get a lot of the firearm owners that give us a bad name. There are a lot of private clubs scattered about firearm loving Indiana that are very affordable.

    Sorry to hear, but not surprised, that the DC area is expensive. I guess like politicians who believe all our money belongs to the government, the shooting range you found sounds like it is run by a politician.

    Itorlo64 I think I know the place you talking about ,the range at The Sleepy Greek WMA is no more so that's the only place to go in the Eastern Panhandle.

    I just Googled that and it appears to be in WV, is that right? I live in Virgina, just outside of DC. That seems like a little bit of a drive.
