Sorry if this is the wrong forum. But I have always wondered if there were any advantages to wolf HP ammo in 223. Yes I know it is dumbed down slow.

Advantages for what? Over what? Over a 55 grain bullet? A little more sectional density and penetration. Might shoot more accurately... depends on the gun.

In as much as it's Wolf .223 ... zero advantage over any other .223 ammo with one exception right now. If it is in stock and you can buy it, that's the advantage. You are correct in saying the Wolf is not loaded fast. The hallmark of why the .224 bullets work and are lethal is speed, less speed = less lethal ammo. No Russian made ammo is "accurate" when fired side by side and compared to any brand of US made ammo that I can think of. If it is all you can afford, then it is worth getting, if you can't find any Winchester, Remington, Rem. UMC, Federal or CCI to purchase then it is totally worth getting of you have no ammo for your rifle.
So I guess the hollow point part means nothing.
Right, it isn't going to be more lethal and will probably lack the speed to acutually make it mushroom. If it was a Sierra Match King 77 gr. hp round it would mean it is an accurate boat tail bullet. The HP is created by a small mandrel that is inserted during the jacket forging process. These bullets are not intended to fragment or mushroom, but rather allow for the forming of the boat tail jacket that is closed at the bottom. FMJ rounds have the jacket open on the bottom and rolled over to retain the lead core.
