Been tempted myself. Have read some complaints of the upper and lower having a little slop in it kinda like an AR as I understand it but not sure if it was isolated to the Gen I or carried over to the Gen II.
The new Gen IIs got a good review recently in Gun Tests.
"The God who gave us life, gave us liberty at the same time; the hand of force may destroy, but cannot disjoin them. ... Can the liberties of a nation be thought secure when we have removed their only firm basis, a conviction in the minds of the people that these liberties are the gift of God? That they are not to be violated but with His wrath? Indeed I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just: that his justice cannot sleep for ever."--Thomas Jefferson
ugly, front end heavy, doesnt come with the thing on top. waste of something
While no one ever listens to me,
I am constantly being told to be quiet.

Tons more accurate than a stock AK, but a lot more expensive, nice. These rifles are what the offspring would be if an AR15 and an AK had sex. It gets the reliability of the AK but the Accuracy of the AR.
I seem to remember a member here having both a Sig 556 and a Sig 556R.
From what I recall, he could swap upper and lowers and have .223 feeding from AK-74 mags or have 7.62x39 feed from 7.62 AR mags.
If I had the money and didn't already have a prioritized list of guns to buy, I'd add one to my collection.
"I'm fucking furious, I'm violently angry, and I like it. If you don't know what that feels like then I feel bad for you"
price is about same as what Arsenal would charge for a folder AK.
Have had my 556 classic since 09 and have had no problems with it at all.
A lot off happy owners here http://www.sigarms556.com/
