Ordered 5 clips that should be here this week. Now I can show people what the difference between clips and magazines are.

well worth the $$ spent and you'll basically never have to ask anyone anything about enfields again.

2 MD is an australian issue, 2nd military district, usually state by state ie queensland or nsw, it means it was there for the defence and use of that state, ie police, prisons, civil defence etc, and with that early year date means it was one of the first bought from the uk for aussie purchases before they started making heir own at Lithgow in 1912/13, you've got a good bit of history there. As the volley sights and cut off are absent its likely that it received the update in 1916 ish to remove them in keeping with new policy that these items were no longer being used in service and not on rifles made after that date. you may find more info sources at enfield resource.com.

Thanks rjwnz that is an interisting bit of information. Kind of cool now you have at least a bit of history on your rifle that is always neat.
Doobie Doobie Doo..
I have a 1918 BSA MKIII. It's a sweet shooter.
Haven't had a chance to order any books yet. But I've been searching the internet for any other info. Whenever I look into the 2 MD marked SMLE's I get info on the Lithgow made ones. Would be intersting to some how find out what or if any Wars this gun has been through.
