    Amazing sight at Walmart

My walmart had a literal shitton of .223 tonight. They had probably 100 (or more) 150 round boxes of american eagle M855, they had a ton of 100 round boxes of M193 and a crap load of 20 round boxes of .223.

I didn't need the ammo but I took home one box of the M855. I figured at $70 for 150 it actually wasn't that bad of a deal. I opened it up and all of the brass is LC 13 with the NATO head stamp.

Thats $.46 per round. I just can't do it. Is this the new "normal"? It seems like gasoline or any other commodity that they want to raise profit margins on. Create a "scare" and a shortage. Prices rise due to market forces (supply and demand). Then when the consumer is used to paying 3 or 4 times the previous norm, trickle supply back to the market and level it off at double the price before the "shortage". Thankfully I won't NEED to every buy rifle ammo again in my life. I could use some pistol ammo though.

I'm with Ten-32 on this. Too fucking much money for what it is. The raw materials are not that expensive to warrant the stupid high prices on ammo now.

The rest of us don't have the components to make 30,000 rounds on reloading equipment.

I've been waiting for cost to go under 40 cent per round. It was about 35 cent before Sandy Hook and I doubt it'll be getting lower than that without some major economic changes.

Well pre-sandy hook I bought 840 rounds of M855 from Ammoman for $329, that works out to $0.39 a round. Buying in a smaller quantity from Walmart and not a big distributor I don't think $0.46 is that bad of a deal. Now if this was russian steel cased crap I'd agree with you. The M193 they had was a little bit cheaper.

I still refuse to buy at these prices. I paid 170 bucks for 500 rds of LC penetrator (green tip) on stripper clips, in a GI can just over a year ago @ Cabela's. Damn, if only I'd had a crystal ball then....they must have had a pallet or two of that ammo on the floor.

Same at the Walmart where I'm at...
We found out what "dealing" with progressive lefties is all about. Our side gives up something, they give up nothing and the progressives come back in a month or a year and want us to give up more... rinse and repeat...

Don't forget to add sales tax to that price.

Target Sports USA has a 1000 round case of Lake City XM855 for $450 shipped which is the best deal I have seen since 'The Crisis".

    Why the hell not?!

Just kidding. For the Record I can only load about 8,000 rounds up with the components on hand ... for 5.56 / .223 that is.

My wal mart had .45 acp today for $25/box of 50. Had the American Eagle 5.56 boxes of 150 for $70 and some Tulammo x39. I can't remember the price for that. I'm taking this as a good sign.

Which type and how much. Lastly I hate you as I've been trying to find .22 LR for 10 months now and can't find jack shit.

    CCI Mini-Mag, 36 gr., copper-plated, HP

I've been finding them, off and on, all summer, but they've been scarce.

Some Tula steel-cased .223 at mine today. Also 50 round boxes of CCI .22LR were a-plenty. One box of .45ACP. A few boxes of brass-cased Tul-Ammo .40 SW. Everything else is still vapor-ware unless you want 12 gauge.

Picked up three 50-rnd. boxes of CCI 22 LR (standard velocity) this morning. Went back later this morning and all the rest of them were gone.

Get ready for some "sticker shock"!

On Monday, a LGS had some Winchester bulk 555 rd. .22LR for $29.99 (pre-tax). That makes it 5.4 cents/rd., compared to previously bought 500 rd. bricks at $9.99 (1.99 cents/rd.)

For the past year, the two local WalFarts have not had ANY .22LR on display every time I was in the stores. The shelf tags had read $21.97 for both Remington 550 bulk and Winchester 555 bulk.

They still had no ammo on display when I went in today but I nearly tossed my cookies when I saw the new price on the shelf tag. WalFart has more than doubled the price!!

    The new price is now
$51.97 for the Winchester 555 bulk ammo!!!
