I currently carry a N.A. Arms sa 5 shot 22mag. for what I call a belly gun. I want get a larger derringer.
I think I would like something in .38 special range. Maybe a break open 2 round model.
Thoughts about the round and model/maker of a firearm are most welcome.
Actually that is what I want

I purchased a really cheap 2 shot over under derringer in .38 spl. over 30 years ago. I don't shoot it much as it is a deep cover or backup piece. The round is marginal but much better than harsh language. Nobody's going to like being shot with it. The lock up on must derringers is their weak point. Cobra Arms http://www.cobrapistols.net/product-...derringers.asp is probably one to look at, they make them in many calibers. Bond Arms makes nice ones but they seem to specialize in .45 cal.

As an alternative probably a Keltec P380 or P32 would be a better choice as you get 6 shots vs. 2 and about the same size package.

I think the Kel-Tec PF-9 and Ruger LCP are today's version of a derringer.

You could probably pocket carry either one of those.

Keltec P32 is what my wife and I carry as backup and or quick trip to the store. Eight rounds of the hottest 71gr FMJ you can find will work better than a stick in the eye.

Bond Arms for a derringer but I agree with Funky and Richard - go with something like a Keltec P9. Small, thin and light and gives you 7 rounds of 9mm +P. Or if you want smaller - P380 or P32.

Another thought is a S&W J frame in an ankle holster. I know a lot of folks don't like ankle carry but hear me out. I've carried a S&W Model 38 or 49 for years in a Cozy Partner ankle rig for years and love it. This holster fits so well you won't notice something like an alloy frame Smith and even a steel frame like my M49 is comfortable all day. Neither of my guns has a hammer to catch. snag, print , etc. Both provide five rounds of .38 +P if you want and if you spend your day getting up from behind a desk or in and out of a vehicle not having something on your waist is a blessing. Plus when seated an ankle rig is actually pretty easy to access. Like I said, just a thought.
