    $15 Night vision goggles?

Saw a used pair at a garage sale and got them for my grandson to play with. Much to my surprise, once i added batteries, they actually work. Amazing price for plastic NVG

Did you get a chance to see if they "flare out" in the presence of a bright light source?

Early generation NVG wouldn't compensate when a light source more powerful than "ambient" was around so if a bright light came into the filed of view the display would flare up into a painful white out.

It's something they fixed in military gear a long time ago but it would be worth playing with just to see.

I am fairly certain those are IR cameras with always on IR LED's with a video screen, not true night vision, but for up close and personal stuff they would be great, as long as you are not going up against someone with nvg's in which case you are wearing a spotlight on your face.
