Never had a hiccup using steel-cased in the Armalite. ARs and AR parts are cheap these days. Unless you're shooting a collectible or vintage rifle I wouldn't worry about the negligible amount of extra wear brought on by steel-cased cartridges.
Heck, complete uppers can be had for the price of a case of brass-cased 5.56. New barrels combined with a new complete bolt carrier with bolt are the price of a half-case of ammo.

The only steel cased ammo I use in ARs is in my 5.45mm upper. I choose to only buy/shoot brass cased ammo through my 5.56 uppers because I don't want any ammo laying around that wouldn't be "go to" ammo.
