    got asked a Q yesterday

and I wasn't sure of the answer.
he has a 47 variant with several different types of mags, he said some will "fall into the mag well and others have to be played with a little"
should I file the mags or the mag well?
all I could come up with is i'll ask. ok I'm askin.
While no one ever listens to me,
I am constantly being told to be quiet.

My rule of thumb is always modify the least expensive part so file the mags.

I'd go with this. Mod the mags.

    Ditto.

You make a mistake with a mag, you throw it away and it's no big loss.
Make a mistake with the magwell....

What variant AK and what mags?

We aren't dealing with a .223 variant are we?

Sometimes you are better off selling the offending mags and buying more of the mags that work...

Sometimes a magazine well or magazine latch can be out of spec on an AK.

The Draco I got years ago came with two magazines that century must have hand fitted to the gun, because no other magazine would fit without really cranking down on it, then I had to smack the release with my next mag to get the first one out.

My solution was to reduce the height of the mag release, so now all magazines fit. There was no way I was going to modify magazines just for that one AK and have it be incompatible with the other AKs. The whole point of buying it was to have another gun in the same caliber and magazine.

This. Century had a bad habit of angle grinding mag lugs so they would fit rifles with too long a mag catch.
