Really kinda different, taste wise. Wish I could tell you how.
I went to the Barrell Bourbon website and they really won't tell you where the hooch is from or who made it.

Man, at 121+ proof, you could peel paint with the fumes alone!

    So, do you like it?

Uh, yeah, sitting here tonight with one of my faves, the Epi-#2, and a wee pour of Evan Williams Single Barrel, 2004, barrel #3.

Lovely combo, thus far in my experience, the 2004 vintage is quite good, especially when you consider its only $25 per 5th.

I do proof it down a bit. I need you down here to taste it and tell me what it tastes like.
But, yes, kinda like it. Don't think it was too "expensive", considering it's more then 750ml
    once proofed down.

IMO its amazing. I've never tasted anything quite like it. Up front you get black licorice and fennel with smoke, then on the finish burnt sugar and clove. Another trick this hooch has; is as your tasting the licorice the mouth feel seems thick and oily, then as it transitions to the finish you get this feel that it thins out and becomes somewhat astringent, then you get hit with the clove at the end. I really like the stuff. When I go out to buy wings this afternoon I'm going to pick a jug up.

So how scientific do you get when vatting this? How much at a time?

Oh, shiite. I used to carefully measure the pour, know how much my eye dropper held at any given level
and put the equation into a formula I found on the bourbon site.
Now, I just squirt some in.......

    What HE said!
We've talked about this being a different mash bill then all the other Jim Beam products, right? And Basil Haden is just
    aged OGD, I think?

I really don't care for the other stuff from Beam, if that's not too blasphemist(if that's a word, which I doubt)

I like the Bakers quite a bit, and Old Overholt isn't bad. But Jim Beam Rye is horrible, just ghastly stuff.

I've now got 3 jugs of rye that I think I need to vat with some Rittenhouse to get rid of them. Beam Rye, Knob Creek Rye and the High West. I figure if I mix these 2 parts Rittenhouse to 1 part sucky rye, the goodness of the Rittenhouse will mask the awfulness of the jugs I need gone. I'd like to get a large enough vessel to do a couple liters at a time.

    One of these would work:http://www.northernbrewer.com/shop/b...a-growler.html

Yes, Stan, I am the root of all your evil!

Tell ya what, tore into the Weller Antique tonight, damn, what an awesome pour! Now I really want a couple bottles of the 12 year.

As far as describing the Antique, think caramel apple crossed with red hots cinnamon candy. Damn I like this hooch.

I've noticed lots of folks on the various forums rave about everything in that line. I have some incubating in the non humidor but I don't remember which series they are.
